Noank Village Preschool Staff

Ms. Catherine, Head Teacher
Hello! I'm happy to be serving as the head teacher at the Noank Village Preschool. I am a graduate of the Noank Baptist Nursery School (as it was previously named), and mother of two. I have worked with children of all ages in many different capacities, including as a camp counselor, preschool assistant teacher, and and as a licensed clinical social worker working in schools and doing work with families in homes. As a social worker I specialized in play therapy, and I have a strong understanding of the power of play, as well as the importance of relationships and connectedness, for children to develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively and to thrive. As a lifelong Noanker, I was taught that it takes a village to raise a child. I am honored to get to be part of your child's "village." I look forward to playing, creating, exploring, wondering, and growing together.

Ms. Keeley, Assistant Teacher
Hello! I am so excited for the opportunity to be the assistant teacher at Noank Village Preschool this fall! My husband, daughter and I have lived in Noank for just the past two years. As a parent, it has been a blessing to see our daughter have the safety and community in the Village of Noank as she has just started her journey in school and with friends as a kindergartener. I feel honored to have the opportunity to work within the same community providing this for my family. I have worked with children and teens of all ages, teaching and coaching in the aquatics and swimming settings, at summer camps, and I was an assistant preschool teacher at my hometown community center as well. I am currently finishing out the school year as a one on one instructional assistant to a little guy in kindergarten. As a mom, and recently, instructional assistant, I know it is so important for our little ones to feel comforted and supported in those first years away from home, in a classroom setting. It can be a big transition for both little one AND parents. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to help make that transition a smooth and positive experience right here at the Noank Village Preschool!

Ms. Vanessa, Director
Hello!
I am so pleased to be the director of Noank Village Preschool this year. I was born and raised here in Noank, and graduated from Fitch High School before moving away for about 25 years. My husband and I started a family on Maui, and moved back to the area a few years ago for our kids to attend Groton schools. We were also foster parents for much of our time in Hawaii, primarily caring for drug exposed newborns and toddlers. I am passionate about creating community, and I’m looking forward to welcoming our students each week. I will divide my time between the classroom and administrative duties, so I will be the point person for emails and phone calls. Thank you so much for your interest in our program, we are so proud to be able to offer a safe, welcoming space for each student’s first preschool experience.

Our program maintains a 4 student per teacher ratio, and our fully certified staff participate in frequent professional development opportunities throughout the year. Our educators lead with kindness and compassion, and share a holistic approach to learning. With the curriculum focused on exploration and creativity, growth and independence are encouraged though our daily activities.
